Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) works to empower disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalized street and slum youth with social cognitive life skills that will enable them to reach their full potential. Strategies are blended to promote prevention through community education and involvement and to rescue, rehabilitate and reintegrate vulnerable children with their families.

UYDEL works to withdrawal and rehabilitate victims of trafficking in persons and sexual exploitation, particularly children trafficked and exploited in commercial sex activities, and labour exploitation including domestic service, scavenging and hawking. UYDEL offers them a temporary shelter, medical, psychosocial, humanitarian and legal assistance, vocational and life skills training and reintegration with their families.

Additionally, UYDEL has trained police officers and local leaders on child trafficking and the law and has worked closely with the child and family protection unit to provide the necessary service that children need.

During the rehabilitation process of children, UYDEL has strengthened the peer education and support model, where young people not only participate in project activities but also support each other to heal from traumatic ordeals, and share their own experience so that others can learn life skills and children\'s rights and responsibilities. In 2008 and 2010, the Voluntary Fund provided financial support to

UYDEL's efforts to combat and prevent trafficking in persons, by way of providing direct assistance in the form of medical care, temporary shelter, counseling and skills training to victims of trafficking in children, raising community awareness on the subject and building the capacity of law enforcement agents.
